The moment, from a game between Sydney Stars and North Harbour Rays in the National Rugby Championship (NRC), has since been ranked as the funniest moment in rugby. The video has racked up over 4srcsrc,srcsrcsrc views, and is listed on YouTube among the most comical things to happen on a pitch.
Defending a ruck right on the try line, North Harbour Rays prop Mitch Lewis places the ball back to the scrum-half to collect. Sounds simple enough, doesn’t it? Well not in this case.
The commentators initially believed that Sydney Stars should have been awarded a try, but after watching the replays, they see that it is Lewis of the Rays who touches the ball down in the act of laying it back.
