Wales’ Kiwi coach Wayne Pivac has named former Crusaders wing Johnny McNicholl in his first Six Nations squad along with four uncapped England-based players.
McNicholl – who joined Pivac’s former club, Scarlets in 2016 – played for Wales against the Barbarians last November in an uncapped match in Cardiff.
But the 29-year-old, who can play wing or fullback, is in line to make his test debut as Wales defend their Six Nations title.
McNicholl, who is contracted to Scarlets until the end of the 2021 season, will join fellow New Zealander Hadleigh Parkes in the Six Nations squad, with another Welsh Kiwi, Gareth Anscombe, out for the season after a knee reconstruction.

Parkes, who plays with McNicholl at Scarlets, has 26 caps and was Wales’ starting second five-eighths throughout last year’s Six Nations campaign and the Rugby World Cup.
McNicholl will face a battle to win a test berth with British and Irish Lions Liam Williams, Leigh Halfpenny and George North in the outside back division, along with World Cup star Josh Adams.
The inclusion of four players from English clubs proved the major talking point of Pivac’s squad.
These items are quite fancy!
