Beauden Barrett will take some confidence into Friday’s Black Clash T20 exhibition after his match in Auckland.
Beauden Barrett has warmed up for the Black Clash T20 cricket match in style.
The star All Blacks’ first five will again turn out for Team Rugby, alongside brother Jordie, in the annual festival T20 match against Team Cricket at Napier’s McLean Park on Friday.
Barrett, now domiciled in Auckland, where he is playing for the Blues, got in some practice for the match during an Auckland club hit out on Monday night.
He made an immediate impact, knocking over a batsman’s middle stump with the ball and fielding tidily at deep midwicket.

Barrett is not set to make his first appearance for new team the Blues until mid-April.
As part of the deal he signed with the Blues and New Zealand Rugby after leaving the Hurricanes, Barrett was granted an extended break following last year’s World Cup.
In November, the Barrett brothers put the All Blacks’ semifinal exit at the Rugby World Cup to one side, playing Taranaki club cricket. They represented their Pihama senior side in a second grade club match against New Plymouth Marist United at St Joseph’s School in New Plymouth.
