English Premiership rugby clubs will reap almost $700,000 each as their share of Saracens’ salary cap breach fine, but the Exeter Chiefs will donate theirs to charity.

Saracens – the English premiership champions for the past two seasons – were fined £5.6 million ($NZ 11 million) and docked 35 points after admitting they exceeded salary payment ceilings for the past three seasons.

The remaining 12 Premiership clubs will each get £350,000 ($NZ690,000) as a share of the fine, but Exeter – runners-up to Saracens in the last two finals – will not keep theirs.

Chairman and chief executive Tony Rowe said the Chiefs’ share would be donated to the Exeter Chiefs Foundation, the club’s official charity which assists charities and organisations within their Devon catchment area.
