Forgotten All Black Bryn Evans has eclipsed some of his superstar countrymen to be named in an English Premiership team of the decade.

England’s 2003 World Cup winner Will Greenwood put together his best 15 players to play in the tough English club competition over the last 10 years and there was a notable lack of Kiwis given their strong presence.

Just two New Zealanders made Greenwood’s team in theTelegraph– lock Evans and big No 8 Thomas Waldrom who never made the All Blacks before heading north.

Evans, 36, did play for New Zealand, earning two tests in 2009 – both as a substitute – when leading second rowers Ali Williams and Anthony Boric were injured.

Evans, a former Hawke’s Bay player, played for the Hurricanes and Blues in Super Rugby before heading north to sign with London Irish in 2001. He joined the Sale Sharks in 2015 and as been there ever since.

Alun Wyn Jones New Zealand loose forward Thomas Waldrom was a dominant force for the Exeter Chiefs in England.
