Henry County has received word that it officially has been awarded a $100,000 site development grant from the state to pay for preparing the former American Colloid location for a possible future owner.
County Mayor Brent Greer said Monday night that the grant goes to the Paris-Henry County Industrial Committee, which agreed to buy the 400-acre tract owned by Mineral Technologies, Inc. in mid-September. The industrial board has a three-year option to buy the site for $1 million.
The grant is termed a due diligence grant by the state Department of Economic and Community Development.
