Munster head coach Johann van Graan insisted he was just happy to come away with a win against champions Saracens in their hard-fought Champions Cup Pool 4 fixture at Thomond Park.

Taking on a dramatically under-strength Saracens – shorn of Owen Farrell, the Vunipola brothers, Elliot Daly and Jamie George – Munster eked out a 10-3 win in a suffocating and error-heavy match played in terrible conditions. 

There wasn’t a single score registered in the second half, as conditions worsened and handling errors increased. 

Speaking afterwards to RTÉ Sport, Van Graan said he felt Munster left a couple of chances behind them in the first half but praised his team for adapting well to the awkward conditions after the break.
