England’s rugby team have no idea what a semi-circle is.

It turns out the World Cup finalists’ V-shape response to the All Blacks’ haka ahead of their semifinal win in Yokohama was a butchered attempt at forming a semi-circle. 

The V formation, which some speculated stood for “V for Victory”, attracted plenty of interest at the time, and a fine from World Cup because because it crossed the halfway line. 

A week after England were comfortably beaten by South Africa in the final, halfback Ben Youngs revealed the blunder during an appearance on The Jonathan Ross Show.
