Only minus 18 now. Saracens’ win at Bath in sub-zero temperatures set them on the path to avoid being frozen out of the Premiership.

The champions, who were proven to have cheated the league’s salary cap in the last three seasons and thus sit bottom of the table, will need around a dozen more victories to be sure of their status.

But thanks to Owen Farrell’s six penalties and the conversion to Sean Maitland’s try they started their inevitable surge up the table.
