Having begrudgingly accepted their £5.36m fine and 35-point deduction Saracens are in a mess.

Q: WHO ARE THE TOP EARNERS?  

A: Saracens’ squad of around 50 players includes 24 internationals, and 10 who have toured with the Lions. 

England captain Owen Farrell earns the most, around £750,000 a year as a marquee player whose salary is not counted towards the cap.

But because of Nigel Wray’s co-investments with him, the Vunipola brothers, Maro Itoje and Richard Wigglesworth, how much they are paid is uncertain. 

Itoje signed a bumper deal until 2022 in February, and is likely to earn more than £500,000, with the Vunipolas not far behind.
