WalesOnlinereport that Williams, who was the Lions fullback in their drawn series with the All Blacks in 2017, will not play South Africa after he was on crutches following an ankle injury picked up at training on Wednesday.
Leigh Halfpenny, who has played 88 tests, would be a solid replacement in the Welsh back three but he does not offer the same attacking threat as Williams.
