Liam Williams will miss the semifinal Wales play against South Africa in the Rugby World Cup.

Wales have suffered a hammer blow before the Rugby World Cup semifinals with star fullback Liam Williams set to miss the rest of the tournament with an ankle injury. 

Warren Gatland’s side play South Africa for a place in the final on Sunday and should Wales beat the Springboks, Williams would seemingly be unavailable for a potential decider against the All Blacks or England.

WalesOnlinereport that Williams, who was the Lions fullback in their drawn series with the All Blacks in 2017, will not play South Africa after he was on crutches following an ankle injury picked up at training on Wednesday.

Leigh Halfpenny, who has played 88 tests, would be a solid replacement in the Welsh back three but he does not offer the same attacking threat as Williams.
