It is not often you get a full nine day lay-off in tournament rugby these days and using this period to optimum effect is important for Eddie Jones and England as they prepare for their first big challenge against the Pumas in Tokyo next Saturday.

This is where Eddie’s local knowledge and empathy with Japan will come in useful, he will have got the squad properly relaxed and enjoying themselves over the last few days before clocking back on Monday.

His staff will have analysed the Pumas against Tonga on Saturday but in truth England probably already know everything worth knowing about Argentina and will have their plans in place.
