Eddie Jones has defended his decision to select Billy Vunipola to face the USA – claiming the No 8 will benefit more from game-time than a week spent eating the city’s famous Kobe beef.
The injury-prone No 8 is one of England’s most valuable players, so eyebrows were raised at Jones’ decision to start the forward in a match which should be a formality.
After a four-day turnaround from the Tonga victory, Vunipola is one of just five players who will have started both of England’s opening Pool C Tests.
