Wales first five-eighth Dan Biggar has produced an early contender for worst of this year’s edition, at least, after his miss from right in front of the posts in his side’s opening game against Georgia.

Fortunately for the Welsh, the shanked shocker was never going to cost them badly in an eventual 43-14 win in Toyota on Monday night, but it was indeed a rather conspicuous way for Biggar – playing in his 74th test – to begin his tournament off the tee.

After centre Jonathan Davies opened the scoring in just the third minute, strolling in under the sticks, Biggar had seemingly the simplest of conversions to ease into his work, and took hardly any time to line up his attempt, only for the right-footer to smack his effort straight back off the left upright.
