Chris Boyd says the previous World Cup-winning All Blacks teams were set in concrete before the tournaments began.

Former Hurricanes coach Chris Boyd says the All Blacks brains trust are still “fishing” for their best XV just days out from their World Cup opener.

Boyd said injury, loss of form and unavailability were factors why the first-choice side wasn’t set in stone ahead of New Zealand’s much-anticipated clash with the Springboks in Yokohama on Saturday night (NZ time).

“I don’t think they are as stable as they were in 2011 or 2015,” Boyd told BBC Sport.

The Hurricanes coach from 2015-18 and now Northampton’s director of rugby said the All Blacks had a solid look about them when winning the two previous World Cups.
