Wales did not fully expressed themselves in their pre-World Cup matches and are looking for a strong start in their bid to win the Webb Ellis trophy for the first time, coach Warren Gatland said on Sunday.

Despite winning the Grand Slam earlier this year, Gatland’s side come into the tournament ranked fifth in the world and after heavy defeats to England and Ireland during World Cup warm-up matches.

Gatland said the team were experimenting in those matches and that their true strategy will only come to the fore when they begin their campaign against Georgia on Sept 23.

“We haven’t shown a lot in the games we have played and we have kept things under our belt,” Gatland said at the team’s pre-World Cup training camp in the port city of Kitakyushu.
