Joe Schmidt’s Ireland were “inept” and had “an incomprehensible tactical plan” in a record loss to England, claims former England hooker Brian Moore (file photo).

Former England hooker Brian Moore says Joe Schmidt’s “inept” Ireland cannot win the Rugby World Cup unless they rediscover their former mojo.

Schmidt, writing in theDaily Telegraph, was alarmed at Ireland’s poor performance in a 57-15 loss to England last weekend, but said their problems “go beyond this one result”.

Prior to the Twickenham thrashing, Moore had predicted six teams could win the World Cup – including Ireland.

“I might have to reduce my list … from six to five …”, he wrote in theDaily Telegraphthis week.
