Gloucester’s Kiwi scrum-half, Willi Heinz, will make his Test debut as England vice-captain against Wales on Sunday, while Bath’s uncapped ex-Sevens flier Ruaridh McConnochie has also been picked to start.

Eddie Jones has named an intriguing, experimental line-up for the fixture at Twickenham which serves as a last audition for places in the official, 31-man World Cup squad, to be announced in Bristol on Monday.

The inclusion of 32-year-old Heinz caps his emergence as a late ‘bolter’ for the tournament in Japan, who has become a near-certainty to make the trip.
